Lions and Tigers and Bears will be displayed at highly visible sites throughout Staten Island from May through September. The community will be encouraged to visit the public art through weekly contests and a final grand prize drawing. After the public display period, the statues will be moved to the Staten Island Zoo for a public auction. The Lions, Tigers and Bears will be auctioned at a Richmond County Savings Foundation event open to the public.

RCSF presents a second borough-wide Public Art project following the success of Dolphin Sightings in 2005. The project will promote public art and artists, instill community pride and offer Staten Island residents the opportunity to enjoy public art. The project will culminate in an art auction with the funds raised benefiting four local not-for-profit community organizations.

The Lions and Tigers and Bears”
will be made of fiberglass and the artistic community will be asked to submit designs. Professional artists, designers, and art students will be invited to share their ideas on designing the statues to celebrate
what makes life on Staten Island special:
our people and culture. A committee will
select the winning designs and the
